Finding good therapy in English in Germany is harder than it should be. PsyShrink exists to change that.

Germany has world-class healthcare — but if English is your language, navigating it can feel like a full-time job on top of everything else you’re already managing. Long waiting lists, language barriers, therapists who’ve never lived the expat experience — the system isn’t built for you.

PsyShrink is. We’re an established network of English-speaking therapists working across Germany — in person in Munich, Frankfurt, and Straubing, and online for clients anywhere in the country or worldwide.

Who we work with

We specialise in expats, international professionals, and multinational couples — people navigating the particular pressures of building a life between cultures.

Individuals. Burnout, anxiety, adjustment disorders, identity shifts, the quiet grief of a life left behind. The things that pile up when you’re managing everything in a second language, far from your support network.

Couples. International relationships face structural pressures most couples never deal with — career compromises, relocation strain, two cultures colliding. Couples therapy in English, for couples who need someone who gets it. More on couples therapy →

Families. Expat families at any stage — cross-cultural parenting, teenagers and third-culture kids, family transitions. More on family therapy →

Frequently asked questions

Is therapy in Germany covered by health insurance? Public German health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) does not cover our services. Clients with private German insurance may be able to claim. We also provide superbills for US out-of-network reimbursement — often 50–80% once your deductible is met. Full details here →

How long does it take to get an appointment? Usually within a few days to a week. We don’t have the months-long waiting lists of the German public system.

Can I switch between in-person and online? Yes — many clients mix both, depending on travel, work, or preference.

Are all your therapists licensed? Yes. All PsyShrink therapists practise under the German Heilpraktikergesetz and are vetted for qualifications, experience, and cultural competence before joining the network.

What does therapy cost? Fees vary by therapist and session type. Individual sessions start from €80; senior and specialist sessions up to €200. Couples sessions are €300 with Cynthia Kunze. Full details are on each therapist’s profile.
